Steven Gerrard and Frank Lampard will not play for England in Wednesday's friendly against Germany.
Liverpool captain Gerrard has been ruled out after a groin injury, while Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard has a rib problem.
But skipper John Terry who had a foot injury is expected to play.
Gerrard was injured in Liverpool's 2-0 win over Bolton on Saturday. He has been examined by Football Association medics who said he wouldn't be fit.
Fulham's Jimmy Bullard and West Ham's Scott Parker have now been added to the England squad.
It's thought England manager Fabio Capello was not impressed earlier this season when Liverpool withdrew Gerrard from the World Cup qualifiers against Andorra and Croatia to have an operation on a groin injury. He wanted Gerrard checked by the FA so he could decide whether or not he was fit. But they have now confirmed his injuries.
England vice-captain Gerrard played the full 90 minutes at the Reebok
Stadium, but a Liverpool spokesman said: "A scan has confirmed a tear in the adductor magnus muscle in his right leg, and he is expected to be out for between seven to 10 days."
Lampard will miss out after scans on a rib injury he picked up at West Brom on Saturday.
England Injuries
They are not the only injuries in the England team. Goalkeeper Joe Hart has hurt his ankle and been replaced by Paul Robinson. Manchester United trio Wayne Rooney, Wes Brown and Rio Ferdinand, as well as Chelsea's Ashley and Joe Cole, and Wigan's Emile Heskey are all injured.
It means Capello will only be able to pick four players out of his first choice line-up for the Germany match.
