On 1 June 2001, Nepal was plunged into a state of shock and grief when Crown Prince Dipendra massacred nine members of the Nepalese royal family and then turned the gun on himself.

US photographer Dave Adair was staying in Kathmandu, just a few hundred yards from the palace. He documented the days after the killings with his camera.
